Founded by a group of four fathers of children with Type 1 diabetes, Bigfoot Biomedical is hoping to market the worlds first artificial pancreas.
The new startup recently acquired the insulin pump company Asante and plans to fine tune algorithms developed by founders Bryan Mazlish and Lane Desborough to be the first to commercialize a fully automated closed loop system, which controls an insulin pump with a combination of a continuous glucose monitor and computer software, which controls the pump based on the readings of the CGM.
